Animoca Brands and Quidd Introduce Mintables, Enabling Collectors to Mint and Unmint NFTs

New York, June 21, 2022: Animoca Brands, a pioneering company in enhancing digital ownership rights within gaming and the metaverse, along with its subsidiary Quidd—the original marketplace for digital collectibles and NFTs—has unveiled Mintables. This innovative feature allows collectors to easily mint and unmint digital items as NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain. The inaugural collection utilizing Mintables is the Atari x Quidd Collection, which is currently available on the Quidd platform and will soon be accessible via GAMEE’s Arc8 mobile app.
Mintables aims to tackle several challenges faced in the NFT space. For many casual collectors, the process of minting NFTs can often be daunting and costly. Additionally, established NFT collectors frequently find that officially licensed branded NFTs are restricted within custodial wallets and centralized platforms.
With the introduction of Mintables, Quidd significantly streamlines the minting process, making it more affordable and less time-consuming for newcomers to crypto. Notably, no cryptocurrency is needed; users can simply utilize a self-custody wallet, like MetaMask. For experienced NFT collectors, Mintables offers seamless interoperability with prominent Ethereum NFT marketplaces such as OpenSea and Rarible. Furthermore, the NFTs can be unminted and subsequently reminted onto different blockchains, providing owners with the flexibility to choose when and where to transfer their assets. This groundbreaking capability is poised to revolutionize the collectibles landscape by offering unprecedented portability, allowing NFT holders to move their items across major blockchain environments as desired.
“Mintables empowers users by giving them choices and genuine digital ownership,” explained Michael Bramlage, CEO and Co-Founder of Quidd. “Why should a platform dictate whether a digital item should exist on a blockchain or determine the specific blockchain used? The Mintables initiative puts the power back in the hands of collectors.”
Collectors can now mint officially licensed Atari digital collectibles on Quidd to the Ethereum blockchain for a promotional introductory price of just $3 per mint. In the near future, Quidd plans to expand its minting offerings with additional collections and support for various blockchains, including WAX, Flow, and Binance Smart Chain.
An added advantage of Mintables for Quidd’s over 7 million collectors is that minting retains the metadata of an item along with the collector’s ownership within the Quidd ecosystem. This process does not alter any ranks or community status, and the Quidd app conveniently consolidates both digital collectibles and NFTs within a unified interface.

Atari x Quidd Collection

The Atari x Quidd Collection features elegantly crafted digital trading cards and 3D representations of iconic video game cartridges from some of the earliest and most cherished arcade and console games. This exclusive collection draws from Atari’s rich archives and pays tribute to the individuals behind these games, including the legendary Atari employee Al Alcorn, and Dona Bailey, one of the pioneering female programmers at Atari and co-creator of the classic game Centipede.

Collaboration with GAMEE

Quidd is partnering with GAMEE, the play-and-earn casual mobile gaming subsidiary of Animoca Brands, to host a week-long event featuring Mintables of the Atari x Quidd Collection on Arc8, GAMEE’s play-and-earn mobile gaming platform.
Holders of Atari x Quidd NFTs will gain exclusive access to participate in a special tournament on Arc8, which features a prize pool of QUIDD tokens. The top 100 participants in this tournament will qualify to mint a unique Atari/Quidd G-Bot starter NFT, with only 100 of these NFTs available.
More information regarding this event will be released later in June.
